NewFest is looking to hire an Administrative Director

NEWFEST

As New York City's premiere Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, NewFest empowers, educates, entertains, and provokes the culturally rich and diverse communities of the greater metropolitan region. Through our annual film festival and year-round programming, NewFest showcases international, US, and local film, video, and other media, fostering a greater sense of awareness and community among LGBT and LGBT-friendly audiences.

ADMINISTRATIVE DIRECTOR JOB SUMMARY

The Administrative Director is a dynamic leader with extensive management, fundraising, and organizational skills who passionately embraces the mission of NewFest to create an artistically vibrant, educational, and economically viable film festival. The Administrative Director will work in collaboration with the Artistic Director and will report directly to the Board of Directors.

Experience/Qualifications

-Management experience required, preferably in non-profit arts administration
-Fundraising experience including grant writing, advertising, membership, individual giving, and corporate sponsorships
-Experience in event planning, preferably in the arts
-Public Relations and Marketing experience preferably in an arts organization
-Background in business and film preferred
-Ability to manage, as well as delegate responsibility to, volunteers, staff, and committees
-Computer literacy required, including database management, spreadsheet, word processing, and web skills
-Ability to work extended and irregular hours up to and including the film festival dates
-Public speaking in front of diverse individuals and groups

Responsibilities

-The Administrative Director is responsible for the overall fiscal, administrative and management and operations of NewFest and reports directly to the Board of Directors. Responsible for preparing and presenting the annual budget for the approval of the Board of Directors and for providing financial information regularly for review by the Board and Artistic Director.
-Directs fundraising activities including grant writing, special events, advertising, membership, individual giving, and local and national sponsorships.
-Negotiates venue rental/sponsorship terms.
-Responsible for Human Resources accountabilities including hiring staff, volunteers and interns, payroll, health benefits and other related employee benefits.
-Manages the budget in a fiscally responsible manner and is accountable for audits, financial reviews, cash flow analyses, and determining expenditures.
-Coordinates with the Artistic Director in regard to festival and year-round promotions and communications, including but not limited to website, community outreach, publicity, and other marketing and advertising collateral materials.
-In collaboration with the Artistic Director, oversees festival consultants and staff.
-Represents NewFest at other festivals, markets, and film-related events, as directed by the Board of Directors.
-Will be an integral part of creating and shaping the long-term strategic plan of NewFest.
-Responsible for other duties as assigned by the Board.

REPORTS TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

SALARY: 40-45K +Commission. Substantial Room for Growth. Employee Benefits.
