Dreamgirls Drama?

Former Dreamgirls powerhouse Jennifer Holliday—known for her awe-inspiring performance as Effie in the original Broadway production of the show—had a lot to say about the new Effie, played by Jennifer Hudson, in the big-screen adaptation. Her recent appearance on Wendy Williams’s radio show found her a little loose-lipped, as she discussed being left off the invite list for the Dreamgirls premiere party: “Actually, I was sort of invited to the premiere tonight, and then I got called and said that it was a misunderstanding and that I wasn’t invited to the premiere, but that it was an actual screening that I was invited to, but they didn’t have a date for that screening.” But it didn’t end there. “It’s like, I’m not a millionaire and I don’t have any kind of precious possessions, no children,” she continued, then went on to address the importance of her rendition of “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going,” saying it’s the only thing she has. “I do need to work… so can’t they just have me be wonderful too? Can’t both of us just be wonderful? My thing is, please don’t try to kick me to the curb.” And it seems Hudson won’t be going away anytime soon: “One guy who’s working on the music with the movie... he was saying, well, Jennifer Hudson has an absolutely wonderful gift and I think the torch has been effectively passed... I’m not passin’ no torch, ’scuse me, are you all trying to force me into retirement? Because… I still need to work, so if we both sing... can she sing it… and I sing it… can we both sing it?” Yes, Jennifer, you can sing it. And so can the new Jennifer. And so can every other histrionic queen who thinks he can “turn it out” after four tequila shots and a karaoke mic are shoved in his face.

Hudson's and Holliday's rendition of the song "And I Am Telling You" are both really really really good!!! I have both CDs!!!!
