David Beckham Is Done With Real Madrid?

David Beckham's spokesman has denied that the former England captain will definitely leave Real Madrid in the summer.

The Spanish club's sporting director Predrag Mijatovic had told Sky Italia television: "Beckham will leave us, we will not renew his contract."

But a statement released on behalf of the midfielder said Real Madrid's contract offer is "still on the table" and talks will resume on a two-year deal with the club tomorrow.

Real had stated their desire to resolve his long-running contract issue one way or the other by the end of next week.

The uncertainty over his future at the Bernabeu has ignited speculation over where he would go next.

He is consistently linked with a return to the Premiership, while there have also been suggestions that he will go and play in America.

The former England captain moved to the Spanish capital in July 2003 after many years of success with Manchester United.

His first three years in Spain were largely successfuly on a personal level, although the club has failed to land a major honour during his time there.

He has not been a regular fixture in the team this season, which had led to speculation about his future.

Beckham became England captain in November 2000 and held on to the position until last year's World Cup.

He stepped down following England's disappointing exit in Germany, and was then dropped from the squad by new coach Steve McClaren.
