Gwen Stefani Is Not A Fan Of Sanjaya

Tonight's American Idol will have Gwen Stefani serving as coach/inspiration for the remaining 10 hopefuls. But a thread on I Love Everything found a rumor from the Idol boards claiming that Sanjaya Malakar's desire to sing a No Doubt song almost sent the whole thing off the rails:

"Sanjaya Malakar - He wanted to sing No Doubt's "Bathwater". She tried to get him to sing some 80's song. He said he was a big fan and he really wanted to do one of her songs. Gwen was upfront with him and told him she didn't think he could pull it off but gave him the benefit of the doubt. Today after seeing how rehearsals were going, she didnt' see any progress. She went to Nigel immediately and told him she does not want Sanjaya singing one of her songs whatsoever. Sanjaya didn't have many options at that point. He kind of got stuck with Maroon 5's "Sunday Morning". This caused a big scene at the studio and was the talk all afternoon."

So anyways, more drama or here's what the judges think of Sanjaya's performance:

Randy said, “Dude, I’m speechless. Every time. It’s weird, you got the dog speechless. The hair is definitely interesting. I like the kinda mohawk look. At the end of the song, you sang that one long note at the end and you sang a little run. You actually can sing if you just put it out there.”
Paula said, “If you had the gumption. If you had the ability to totally go for it, it would fit the wackiness of the fauxhawk. To watch you on stage and not go for it, we’re kinda like come on, you can do it.Simon said, “I presume there was no mirror in your dressing room tonight. I don’t think it matters anymore what we say. I genuinely don’t. You’re in your own universe and if people like you, then good luck.”
And in response to Simon’s comment regarding his ponyhawk, Sanjaya quipped, “You’re just jealous you couldn’t put it off.”
