Photo-Ops And Denials.....

Madonna and Guy Ritchie put on a united front in New York last night after denying their seven-year marriage is headed for divorce.

The pair arrived together at Italian restaurant Cesca on the Upper East Side and while they held hands at one point, there was barely a smile in sight.

Neither were wearing their wedding rings.

Their public appearance came the same day her publicist issued a statement scotching rumours of a split and dismissing a report in an American magazine that the singer was in a relationship with baseball star Alex Rodriguez.

Her spokesperson Liz Rosenberg released a statement saying the couple's marriage "does not need saving".

Last week it was reported the singer had lined up Paul McCartney's divorce lawyer Fiona Shackleton to represent her.

But Ms Rosenberg told People magazine in the US: "Madonna's husband Guy arrived in New York last night to be with his wife and family (not in a last ditch attempt to save his marriage which does not need saving).

"There are no plans for Madonna and Guy to divorce."

Rodriguez, 32, who plays for the New York Yankees, was reported to have made late-night visits to her New York apartment.

But Ms Rosenberg said: "Madonna and Alex have the same manager, Guy Oseary.

"They have met. They know each other and Madonna took her kids to a Yankees game last week. There's really not anything to comment on beyond that."
