Damage Control For The New "Lohans"

The parents of Heroes star Hayden Panettiere put on a public show of unity, the day after he was arrested and charged with domestic violence for allegedly striking his wife, the mother of the teenage television star.

Alan Panettiere and wife Lesley Vogel were seen laughing and smiling together as they walked their dogs near their home in Los Angeles.

Lesley was wearing a pair of white RayBan sunglasses, which covered her eyes, and betrayed no sign of the bruising which is said to have occurred after she was 'struck' by her husband 'two or three times'.

Yesterday, the 49-year-old was released on £25,000 bail after spending ten hours in police custody in Los Angeles County sheriff's custody.

He has been charged with one count of domestic violence.

Panettiere was arrested at 3.15am at the family's West Hollywood home.

Mr Panettiere allegedly hit wife Lesley - who is her daughter's manager - in the face during an argument after the family attended a charity benefit hosted by their daughter at Eva Longoria's LA restaurant Beso, according to reports in the US.

A police spokesman said that Alan allegedly struck Lesley one or two times on the cheek causing bruising.

Another sheriff's official said that alcohol was involved in the incident.

The police spokesperson confirmed the arrest to People.com, revealing that Alan felt that his wife had 'disrespected' him.

'The mother called police shortly before 3am, and Mr Panettiere was taken into custody,' he said.

It is not yet known if the 18-year-old star and her brother Jansen, 13, were at home during the incident.
