JK Rowling Sued For Plagiarism

JK Rowling is being sued for £500 million for plagiarism.

The estate of little-known British author Adrian Jacobs has claimed Rowling's fourth novel 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire' was copied from Jacobs' 1987 book 'The Adventures Of Willy The Wizard No 1: Livid Land'.

Jacobs' died in 1997 without ever reading a 'Harry Potter' novel - the first title in the hit series was published the same year - but his son and grandson are convinced Rowling studied and duplicated his 36-page story, which also featured a child who discovers he has magical powers.

They claim Jacobs' sent his manuscript to Christopher Little, the literary agent at Bloomsbury Publishing who went on to represent Rowling, but it was rejected.

The estate is now suing Rowling and Bloomsbury Publishing for plagiarism, lodging legal proceedings at Britain's High Court.

Legal papers filed by Jacobs' estate list similarities between the books, including "shared references" to a wizard train and prison and a magical contest where the boy wizard must rescue human hostages taken captive by half-human creatures.

In addition to £500 million in damages, the estate is seeking an injunction to prevent further sales of the offending book, or a share in the tome's profits.

Rowling is estimated to have a personal fortune of £560million.

Bloomsbury Publishing has branded the allegations "unfounded, unsubstantiated and untrue".

A statement said: "JK Rowling had never heard of Adrian Jacobs nor seen, read or heard of his book 'Willy the Wizard' until this claim was first made in 2004 - almost seven years after the publication of the first book in the highly publicised 'Harry Potter' series.

"'Willy the Wizard' is a very insubstantial booklet running to 36 pages which had very limited distribution. The central character of 'Willy the Wizard' is not a young wizard and the book does not revolve around a wizard school. This claim is without merit and will be defended vigorously."

Daniel Radcliffe Wants Harry Potter Dead

After doing a full frontal playing a stable boy that earned him a standing ovation, for his acting mind you, Radcliffe says he hopes the boy wizard dies in the final book.

Daniel, 17, who gains access to his £20 million film earnings on his 18th birthday on July 23, says: "I sort of hope I'll die in it.

"I think that's the only way Jo can end it and I've a melodramatic yearning for a death scene."

J.K. Rowling, as fans know her from her 300-million-selling series, has said two of her main characters will die in the last book.

Harry Potter To Die In Final Book?

A HELPLINE for distressed fans of the popular Harry Potter series is being set up because two characters will be killed off in the final instalment.

"This could be a similar moment to when (pop band) Take That split up - there could be a lot of upset teenagers out there,'' Debbie Williams, a buyer for the book chain Waterstone's, told Britain's The Daily Telegraph today.

"We are looking to set up a helpline for them.''

Waterstone's predicts half a million copies will fly off the shelves when the seventh and final edition of British author JK Rowling's hugely successful Harry Potter series - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - becomes available on July 21.

Rowling has said she is poised to kill off two characters in the final instalment and many fans fear that Harry, in his last year at Hogwarts school, will be one of the victims.

The Harry Potter books have sold 325 million copies worldwide and have been translated into 64 languages, as well as being converted into a successful film franchise starring Daniel Radcliffe.
The books have made Rowling an estimated $US1 billion ($A1.29 billion).

The fifth movie in the series is due for release about one week before the final book is released.

Harry Potter Is JK Rowling

Harry Potter author JK Rowling has revealed the schoolboy wizard has started appearing in her dreams.

The British writer is struggling to finish the seventh book in the fantasy series set at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and has recently been dreaming she is Harry.

Rowling revealed on her personal website: "For years people have asked me if I have ever dreamed I am 'in' Harry's world.

"The answer was no until a few nights ago when I had an epic dream in which I was, simultaneously, Harry and the narrator.

"As the narrator I knew exactly where what I needed to find was, while as Harry I was searching in all kinds of other places, while trying to make people around me say lines I had pre-arranged for them."

The Harry Potter books have sold more than 300 million copies worldwide and have been translated into 63 languages and a lot of expectation rests on the 41-year-old author's shoulders to complete the final tome.

Okay fine. Just finish the book already so we can read it. GEEZ!!!!
