U.K's Channel 4 Is Guilty Of Cover Up
Remember the Big Brother drama regarding Shilpa Shetty being bullied by bigots? Well, Channel 4 was found guilty of "serious breaches" of the broadcasting code over the Big Brother race row.
It will now be forced to make a series of on-air apologies for its failure to act.
Following a lengthy inquiry, media watchdog Ofcom said Channel 4 "failed to appropriately handle" racist material broadcast during this year's version of the reality show in which housemates were accused of bullying Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty.
The regulator found three separate incidents had caused "widespread offenceĆ® to the public - when former S Club 7 singer Jo O'Meara and glamour model Danielle Lloyd made disparaging remarks about Indian cooking, when Lloyd said Shetty should "f**k off home" and Jade Goody's reference to the actress as "Shilpa Poppadom".
Meanwhile, an internal inquiry concluded the broadcaster "appeared to condone" racist incidents by failing to "intervene forcefully".
