Jury: Diana's Death Unlawful

LONDON, England (CNN) -- The jury in the Diana, Princess of Wales inquest Monday returned a verdict of unlawful killing through negligent driving of her car and the following paparazzi vehicles.

Diana, Princess of Wales, died in a Paris car crash on August 31, 1997.

The coroner in the inquest into the deaths of Princess Diana and her boyfriend, Dodi Fayed, earlier Monday told the jury their verdict did not have to be unanimous.

Coroner Lord Justice Scott Baker told the 11 jurors that he would accept a verdict if nine of them agreed. The jury had been deliberating since April 2.

The British inquest into the August 31, 1997, deaths began in October after a decade of British and French police investigations and French court proceedings. The jury's role was to determine how the victims died; it had no authority to blame any individual.

The jury's first task, following six months of testimony, was to decide whether French investigators got it right within days of Diana's death when they concluded that her speeding driver, Henri Paul, was drunk. Photo See gallery of images related to Diana inquest.

The second issue for the six women and five men was whether the paparazzi who chased the princess around Paris bore a heavy responsibility for the deaths.

Baker had previously asked for unanimous verdicts on both deaths, but said a majority verdict could be accepted if the jury was deadlocked.

In his summing up on April 2, Baker told the jury to consider whether Diana and Fayed would have lived if they were wearing seat belts and whether Diana would have survived had she been taken to the hospital faster.

Baker said there was "no evidence" that the British secret service -- or any other government agency -- had anything to do with the crash, as Fayed's father has alleged.

The inquest is the official British inquiry into the deaths of the princess and Fayed in a Paris car crash August 31, 1997, while they were fleeing paparazzi photographers. It began October 2 and has already cost more than $6 million of taxpayers' money.

More than 240 witnesses have given evidence, including Diana's close friends, Prince Philip's private secretary, a former head of the Secret Intelligence Service and Diana's former butler, Paul Burrell.

I Say It's A Conspiracy

A jeweller testifying at the inquest into the 1997 death of DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES, has been accused of lying over claims the British royal was about to announce her engagement to lover DODI FAYED.

Alberto Repossi, a society jeweller from Monaco, gave evidence via videolink at London’s High Court on Monday (10Dec07), where he recalled a telephone conversation he had with Fayed in August 1997, in which he allegedly revealed the couple’s good news.

Repossi claims Fayed had called to ensure a ring he had ordered would be resized ready for collection at the end of the month (Aug97), when the couple was to make a formal announcement of their plans to wed. But Diana and Fayed were killed in a tragic car crash in Paris, France, on 31 August (97), before they could share their news with friends and family.

But Repossi’s revelation attracted heavy criticism from lawyers at the inquest, who questioned why the jeweller had not mentioned the phone call in earlier conversations with police.

Inquest counsel Nicholas Hilliard then went on to claim that Repossi had changed his story, saying: "I suggest you have told a series of lies about what happened in August 1997. Who has asked you to tell lies, Mr Repossi?" His allegations prompted a sharp response from Repossi, who retorted: "If you go on like this I am not going to answer any more questions." The inquest aims to establish whether the princess and Fayed were simply the victims of a tragic accident, or if they were the targets of an assassination plot headed by the British royal family - as claimed by Fayed’s father, Mohamed Al Fayed.

Princess Diana's Update

LONDON (AFP) - Princess Diana's lover Dodi Fayed bought an engagement ring in a Parisian jewellery store hours before they died, an inquest into the pair's death heard on Thursday.

Fayed bought the 11,600-pound (16,600-euro, 23,700-dollar) ring from the "Dis-moi oui" store owned by Monte Carlo jeweller Alberto Repossi, which was found in his apartment after he died along with Diana in a car crash in a Paris underpass on August 31, 1997.

The jury was shown a copy of the receipt dated August 30, 1997, with the words "bague fiancaille", which means engagement ring in French, printed on it.

They were also shown unedited CCTV images of Fayed in the jewellery store, which is on the same square as the Ritz Hotel, where the pair were staying, and the images showed Fayed examining the ring in the store after it had closed to the public the afternoon he purchased it.

The CCTV images showed Fayed later returning to the couple's Imperial suite at the Ritz, where Diana spent the afternoon, holding only a brochure from the jewellery store.

Claude Roulet, an assistant to the hotel's president, is then seen in the footage returning to the store shortly afterwards to pick up an object in a bag which he then takes to the couple's suite.

The footage subsequently showed Roulet putting the bag in the Ritz's strong room, before Fayed and Diana leave the hotel for the last time.

Princess Diana's family solemnly marked the 10th anniversary of her death Friday, with her younger son eulogizing her as "the best mother in the world."

The bishop of London used his sermon at a memorial service to call for an end to the sniping between Diana's fans and detractors, and a priest who has led an annual remembrance said it may now be time to let go.

"To lose a parent so suddenly at such a young age, as others have experienced, is indescribably shocking and sad," Prince Harry said at the memorial service at the Guards' Chapel near Buckingham Palace.

"It was an event which changed our lives forever, as it must have done for everyone who lost someone that night," said Harry, who was 12 when Diana died.

"But what is far more important to us now and into the future is that we remember our mother as she would wish to be remembered, as she was: fun-loving, generous, down to earth and entirely genuine," he said.

Diana's admirers, many of them suspicious of the cause of her death and resentful of Prince Charles, tied bouquets, poems and portraits to the gates of her former home.

Friday was a day for broadcasting video snippets of her wedding and funeral, for rehashing the rights and wrongs of her failed marriage.

It was one more day for dredging up questions about how Diana came to die in a car crash in Paris with her boyfriend, Dodi Fayed, and for the Daily Telegraph to publish an essay explaining "why we were right to weep for Diana."

For Harry and his older brother, Prince William, it was a simple tribute to an adored mother.


"To us, just two loving children, she was quite simply the best mother in the world," Harry said. "When she was alive, we completely took for granted her unrivaled love of life, laughter, fun and folly.

"She was our guardian, friend and protector," Harry said. "She never once allowed her unfaltering love us to go unspoken or undemonstrated."

Harry and William were credited with organizing the noontime service, but Charles was blamed by many for the furor over an invitation to his current wife.

Camilla, whom Diana blamed for breaking up her marriage, decided to stay home. That decision followed quickly after the Mail on Sunday published a commentary by Diana's friend, Rosa Monckton, saying the princess would have been "astonished" that Camilla was invited.

"Actually, she would have been astonished to learn that her former husband had married his longtime mistress," Monckton wrote.

Bishop Chartres, who was also a target of Monckton's attack, called for an end to the sniping.

"Still 10 years after her tragic death, there are regular reports of 'fury' at this or that incident and the princess' memory is used for scoring points. Let it end here," Chartres said. "Let this service mark the point at which we let her rest in peace and dwell on her memory with thanksgiving and compassion."

A few hundred people gathered outside — a smaller crowd than the masses that lined the route of Diana's funeral procession to Westminster Abbey.

"She reached our lives deeply, even in America. She brought life to the palace and warmth, and that's what the monarchy needed," said Arlene Fitch, 54, of Boston.

Diana "got married the same year as me, she had children the same year as me and, as her boys have grown up, they have done just the same kind of things as our boys would do," said Fitch's sister, Marie Schofield, 46, from Florida.

The Rev. Frank Gelli, who has led an informal service outside Kensington Palace every year, said this probably would be the last.

"It would be good if the princess was allowed to rest," he told a reporter.

Eileen Neathey, 56, of London, recalled a chance encounter with Diana at a hospital, where Neathey's mother was a patient.

"I had been up all night and was very upset, and when I bumped into Diana, I burst into tears," said Neathey, outside Kensington Palace. "She put her arm round me and comforted me — that's the way she was."

John Loughrey, 52, had painted "Diana" on his forehead and "the truth?" on his cheek. "We must get to the bottom of how she died," he said.

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were among the 500 people in the chapel. Prince Edward, Charles' younger brother, and his sister, Princess Anne, also were there, as were Prime Minister Gordon Brown, former prime minister John Major and Tony Blair, and representatives of 110 charities Diana supported.

Sir Elton John came, but did not perform. His reworking of "Candle in the Wind," was a poignant moment for many at Diana's funeral.

Mohamed al Fayed, who accused Prince Philip of masterminding a plot to kill Diana and Dodi Fayed, was not on the guest list. He observed his own two minutes of silence at Harrods, his department store, an hour before the memorial service. However, his daughter, Camilla al Fayed, did attend the official service.

"There's definitely something more to it than meets the eye, and I think Mr. al Fayed is probably right that the government were involved," said Alison Wormall, 46, who traveled from central England to join the observance at Harrods.

A poll commissioned by Channel 4 television found that 25 percent of the public believes Diana was murdered, but 59 percent thought it was an accident. The telephone poll of 1,016 adults conducted this week had a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

The royal family, which clearly was caught by surprise by a national tidal wave of grief 10 years ago, had refrained from any public remembrance of the anniversary of the princess' death.

This year, however, William and Harry took the lead in organizing the memorial service, as well as a rock concert on Diana's birthday, July 1, which drew 70,000 paying fans.

James Hewitt, the man branded the late Princess Diana's "love rat" by Britain's tabloid newspapers, has failed to deny he is the real father of Prince Harry.

In an exclusive interview with A Current Affair's Tracy Grimshaw, to be broadcast tomorrow night, Hewitt tells of his last conversation with Diana, his dislike of the Royal family and the delicate question of Harry's paternity.

In the far-reaching interview, the army major also erupts angrily when he speaks about Prince Charles and the latter's role as the future King of England.

And he lashes out at what he calls the "hypocrisy" of the royal family over Diana's memorial, and paints himself as Diana's "protector".

"There was only one person at the time that could have provided that
[protection] and it was me," he said.

"There were millions there to protect the Queen, and you know England and all that it stands for ... and so I chose to help someone who was unlikely to achieve that elsewhere"

Hewitt reveals details of the last words he spoke to Diana, and how the princess enjoyed shocking "the establishment" right up to the day of her death.

"Before she was killed, when I last spoke to her, she said 'I am going to shock the world and go off with some big fat black man'."

When asked if he was envious that Diana was able to conduct an open affair with Dodi Al-Fayed, the man who raised the ire of the British press, Hewitt appeared magnanimous.

"I was pleased for her, pleased that she had achieved what she had set out to achieve when she found herself in an unhappy situation with Charles," he said.

Camilla Will Not Attend Diana's Memorial Service

British royal CAMILLA, DUCHESS OF CORNWALL has announced she will not attend Friday’s (31Aug07) memorial service for DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES, following weeks of fierce debate in the U.K. press.
Diana, who died 10 years ago in a car accident in Paris, France, famously branded Prince Charles’ second wife the "third person" in her own marriage to the heir to the throne before their divorce in 1996.

But despite the tensions, Diana’s children Princes William and Harry invited Camilla to Friday’s service, which marks the 10th anniversary of the tragedy that brought the world to a standstill in 1997.

Following weeks of British newspaper editorials over whether she should accept or not, Camilla has decided her presence "could divert attention from the purpose of the occasion" and so has decided not to attend, although she was "touched" to be invited.
In a statement, she says, "I accepted and wanted to support them.

"However, on reflection I believe my attendance could divert attention from the purpose of the occasion, which is to focus on the life and service of Diana.

"I’m grateful to my husband, William and Harry for supporting my decision."

Sir Elton John led a star-studded line up at the Concert for Diana yesterday (01.07.07).

The 60-year old musician opened and closed the emotional charity event which featured a host of top entertainers, including Lily Allen, Rod Stewart, Kanye West, Duran Duran and Take That.

The show was organised by Diana's sons Princes William and Harry to mark the 10th anniversary of her death, on what would have been her 46th birthday.

Elton - who performed at Diana's 1997 funeral - opened the spectacular show with 'Your Song' before another of Diana's favourite artists Duran Duran got the 63,000 fans packed into London's new Wembley Stadium dancing with their upbeat new song 'Sunrise', as well as classic hits 'Wild Boys' and 'Rio'.

A global audience of more than 500 million people in 140 countries around the world watched the event.

The show, which started at 4pm and went on for more than six hours, also featured a collection of celebrity presenters who introduced the acts and paid tribute to Diana and her legacy.

Sienna Miller and actor Dennis Hopper introduced third act Lily Allen, and other presenters included '24' star Kiefer Sutherland, Gillian Anderson, Patsy Kensit and British comedian Ricky Gervais.

One of the biggest receptions was reserved for soccer superstar David Beckham who was greeted with a standing ovation as he introduced Take That to the delirious audience.

The show ended as it began with Elton bringing the day to a crescendo with classic hits 'Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting', 'Are You Ready For Love' and 'Tiny Dancer'.

Proceeds from the event will go to a series of Princess Diana's favourite charities, including the National AIDS Trust and homeless charity Centrepoint.

A Queen And A Princess Dancing

Not so long ago, Princess Diana danced with John Travolta at a White House dinner party..... the year was 1985. John Travolta was not fat then.

Apparently John Travolta claims that the dance has revived his career.

He says, "That was an amazing moment for me because I was having a dip in my career and no one was interested in me.
"Suddenly, I was the only thing that mattered in America to Princess Diana and I was reborn.

"I was like, ‘Wow. I matter to someone again.’ I was on the cover of every newspaper and magazine in the world and someone as significant as Princess Diana reminded everyone of me."

Not that they care, they were just glad to see a Queen and a Princess dancing together.... just my opinion folks.

Princes Fed-Up With Conspiracies Theories

The 24-year-old prince says he is fed-up with all the conspiracies theories surrounding Diana’s death in a Paris car crash on August 31, 1997.

In an exclusive TV interview with America’s NBC network, he said: ‘I’m afraid there are always people out there who want to make money and their chosen methods is to do it this way.

The 22-year-old royal said: ‘I can’t see it ending really. People will always have a fascination about her.’ William and Harry were just 15 and 12 respectively when their beloved mother tragically died and hit back at claims they didn’t show enough emotion.
Harry said: ‘If we don’t feel comfortable pouring our eyes out in front of thousands of people, that is our problem.’ He added: ‘I think we’re both very grateful that each of us were there, you know, sort of as a shoulder to cry on if we needed to.’ William also revealed how upset his late mother was when somebody said she had cellulite.

He said: ‘Someone said she had cellulite or something like that. As a woman in the public eye, she tried so hard and was so glamorous, always in the gym.

‘For any woman, I imagine, it’s just outrageous that these people sit behind their desks and comment on it. There were many times we just sort of had to cheer her up and tell her she was the best thing ever.’

RE: THEIR ATTEMPTS TO LEAD A NORMAL LIFE:

LAUER: Your mom used to say that one of her main concerns for you two was that you live as normal lives as possible.

PRINCE WILLIAM: Um-hm

PRINCE HARRY: Um-hm

LAUER: So ten years later do you think she would be happy or saddened by the state of normalcy?

PRINCE HARRY: I think she'd be happy in the way that we're going about it but slightly unhappy about the way the other people were going about it as in saying, "Look you're-- you're not normal so stop tryin' to be normal," which is very much what we get a lot. You know it's like stop tryin' to be normal. You-- You-- You've got certain responsibilities. Which obviously we do, and we know we have certain responsibilities. But within our-- within our private life and within certain other parts of our life we wanna be as normal as possible. And yes it's hard -- cause to a certain respect we never will be normal.

RE. IT BEING THE TENTH ANNIVERSARY OF THEIR MOTHER’S DEATH

LAUER: As I was leaving the States telling people I was gonna come talk to you-- as you're about to mark the tenth anniversary of your mom's death I can't tell you how many people said, "Wow has it been ten years?" That it seems like two years or it seems like three years. How has the time gone by for you two?

PRINCE HARRY: Personally really, really slowly actually. It's weird because I think when she -- she passed away there was never that time -- there was never that sort of lull. There was never that sort of peace and quiet for any of us - the fact that her face was always splattered on the paper the whole time.

Over the last ten years I personally feel as though she has been-- she's always there. She's always being a constant reminder to both of us and everybody else. And therefore I think when you're being reminded about it, it does take a lot longer and it's a lot slower.

LAUER: Does it feel the same way for you?

PRINCE WILLIAM: Yeah I mean-- again just for my personal opinion, when you knew somebody or someone that important to you -- you always think about you know. I mean -- so after it happened we were always you know always thinking about it. And there's not a day goes by I don't think you know that I don't think about it once in the day. And so for us is a very slow and it's a lot-- it has been a long time.

PRINCE HARRY: You know when people think about it they think about her death. They think about you know how wrong it was. They think about you know whatever happened. I don't know for-- for me personally whatever happened you know that night. Whatever happened in that tunnel. You know no one will ever know. And I'm sure people will always think about that the whole time.

LAUER: Have you stopped wondering?

PRINCE HARRY: I'll never stop wondering about that.


RE. THE CHALLENGES OF FORMING RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHERS:

PRINCE WILLIAM: I don't wanna be liked by someone just because of who I am. You know, I don't want the sycophantic, you know, people hanging around, you know?

LAUER: But you can tell those people right off the bat, can't you?

PRINCE WILLIAM: You can, yeah. Although some-- you know, some of them are--

PRINCE HARRY: Yeah, you can--

PRINCE WILLIAM: --are better than others.

PRINCE HARRY: --some of them-- some of them are good at playing along.

LAUER: Because obviously there's also a lot to lose if someone befriends you. You've got a lot of people out there who wanna make money.

PRINCE HARRY: But at the same time, you gotta understand that it's just as hard for our friends as it is for us -- there's a massive element of trust. You look surprised when I say that. But the reason I say that is because our friends have to put up with a lot-- when it comes to us.

LAUER: So the baggage is two-sided.

PRINCE WILLIAM: There's a lot of baggage that comes with us, trust me. A lot of baggage.


RE. WHAT THEY WOULD BE IF THEY WEREN’T PRINCES

LAUER: If your last name weren't "Windsor," if it were "Smith" or "Jones," and you didn't have the duties that you were born into, what would you wanna do professionally?

PRINCE HARRY: All sorts of things.

LAUER: Like what?

PRINCE WILLIAM: Well, when I was younger, I wanted to be a policeman. And I wouldn't wanna be that now. (LAUGHTER)

LAUER: The most popular cop on the block.

PRINCE WILLIAM: Yeah, exactly.

LAUER: What would you wanna do?

PRINCE HARRY: I think it's-- it's--

PRINCE WILLIAM: I don't know. It's a really tricky question. I guess. I'd like to fly helicopters, definitely. I'd like to be some sort of heli pilot, you know, working for the UN maybe or something like that. Go off and do some, you know, I'd have to be doing something active -- outside and doing sort of fun stuff but with an edge to helping people.

LAUER: What about you, Harry?

PRINCE WILLIAM: He'd probably sit and play computer games and drink beer. (LAUGHTER)

PRINCE HARRY: Oh, thanks a lot. No, honestly, I don't know how well this would get on, but I'd probably live in Africa. I'd, you know, I'd like to spend all my time out there.

LAUER: In a humanitarian aspect?

PRINCE HARRY: Both. It would be a humanitarian aspect and as well as a sort of a safari aspect. I would have to get a job. So it would probably be a safari guide.

Prince Charles Is Not Only Boring As A Person But Also In Bed

Prince Charles was not a good lover in his younger days, according to Tina Brown, author of a new book on the royal family entitled, "The Diana Chronicles". Brown spoke with a former model who stated that young Prince Charles was not a good lover and "could only do it in the missionary position, with the lights out".

Brown credits new wife Camilla Parker Bowles with relaxing him sexually. She claims Camilla encouraged Charles sexually by telling him to "pretend I am a rocking horse" to give him maximum pleasure. Brown drily notes: "Royal men never quite escape from the nursery."

Brown further claims Princess Diana needed her affair with James Hewitt since she states "(Diana's) sex life was non-existent. Charles was all but gone from her bed."

According to Brown, Hewitt was said by Diana to be an accomplished lover. Brown says: "He helped Diana achieve orgasms of a reliability and intensity she had never enjoyed before. He soon came to see that loving Diana was a mission to save her life, and he stepped up to it admirably."

Other tidbits......

After Harry's birth in 1984, Diana tried to retain her husband's bedroom interest, says Brown, by "putting on sexy lingerie and low music and attempting to tantalise him with a striptease". Charles is said to have only "mildly enjoyed it".

Brown says the princess's famous pas de deux with Wayne Sleep on the stage at the Royal Opera House to the music of Billy Joel's Uptown Girl was planned by Diana as a public attempt to woo Charles and to reawaken his physical interest in her.

A Royal Plea

LATEST:British royals PRINCES WILLIAM and HARRY have branded the decision to broadcast crash scene images of their late mother DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES "wholly inappropriate and deeply distressing".

Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, a senior aide for the pair, has written to U.K. TV network Channel 4 to request graphic images of Diana’s final hours be scrapped from the show, due to air on Wednesday night (06Jun07).

Among the pictures contested is one of Diana slumped in the back seat of the Mercedes moments after the fatal 1997 collision, and another showing a French doctor attempting to fit an oxygen mask to her face.

A statement from royal residence Clarence House says, "As of this morning (05Jun07), Clarence House had not received a reply from Channel 4.

"In publishing the letter, the Princes reluctantly feel that they have been left no choice but to make it clear publicly that they believe the broadcast of these photographs to be wholly inappropriate, deeply distressing to them and to the relatives of the others who died that night, and a gross disrespect to their mother’s memory." The letter, sent last Friday (01Jun07) by Lowther-Pinkerton, read, "If it were your or my mother dying in that tunnel, would we want the scene broadcast to the nation? Indeed, would the nation so want it?" Channel 4 insists it has weighed royal concerns against the legitimate public interest of the documentary and will not stand down.

The paternity of Britain’s Prince Harry has been called into question again, with the release of a new book about his tragic mother Princess Diana. Christopher Anderson, the US author of ‘After Diana: William, Harry, Charles and the Royal House of Windsor’ released today (05.06.07), claims Harry’s father was not Diana’s husband Prince Charles, but her lover James Hewitt. Anderson says 22-year-old Harry’s similarities with James, who had an affair with Diana in the 80s, are too strong to ignore. He said: ‘It’s not just the physical resemblance - and I can pick out dozens of photos that show this - it’s the peculiar expressions, the walk, the mannerisms.’ The princess and James both denied rumours that he was Harry’s father, insisting they did not meet until two years after Harry was born in 1984. Ingrid Seward, editor of Majesty magazine, has rubbished Anderson’s claims. She was quoted by USA Today as saying: ‘It’s such rubbish. It’s so obvious when you see Harry. He is the spitting image of his grandfather Prince Philip. His close-set eyes are a Windsor trait. His red hair, that’s very Spencer. It’s ridiculous.’ The book, which comes just weeks before the 10th anniversary of Diana’s death this summer, is Anderson’s third about the Princess. Anderson also claims the young prince will eventually serve in Afghanistan, after Army bosses banned him from serving alongside his fellow soldiers in Iraq recently.

The writer insists his book is an attempt to defend Diana’s honour. He added the princess, who died in a Paris car crash with her lover Dodi Al Fayed in 1997, has been portrayed as ’scheming and neurotic’. He said: ‘It’s about her legacy and the new generation. For all her faults, and she had plenty, she was a pretty gutsy young woman.’

I mean this is a possibility considering he's pretty HOT!!!! I mean, look at Prince William and Prince Charles.... 'nuff said.

How Time Flies For Prince Harry

A veteran royal photographer has this to say about my Prince Harry:

Prince Harry is "dangerously becoming an embarrassment to this country".

This guy, Mr Edward criticised Prince Harry after it was allegedly reported that the Prince has lunged at a paparazzi last week when he was leaving a London nightclub.

Mr. Arthur Edwards belongs in the dark ages when he equates "dignity" with this comment:

"They look straight in your face. They might not be happy. They might be feeling really miserable inside," he said.

I personally think he is 100% wrong. Example? Princess Diana, like hello????? Princess Diana was loved by millions of people around the world not because she has this "dignity" as how Mr. Edwards defines but because she showed emotion and not all stiff like she had something stuck up her arse.

And Prince Harry, well, I respect him for having the same quality as her mother and the fact that he insisted in going to Iraq. That showed really dignity and humanity.

Believe me, there are other thing the UK should be embarrassed about and it's definitely not Prince Harry. So, Mr Arthur Edwards, before you do say something like what do you did, first: get your facts straight.... Did Prince Harry really attacked a member of the paparazzi? If so, was it a valid attack?

Anyways, shame on you Arthur Edwards.

A Tribute Concert For A Princess

Sir Elton John, Rod Stewart, Kanye West and James Blunt will perform at Princess Diana's tribute concert.

The late Diana's sons Princes William and Harry have invited a host of musical stars to appear at this summer's Concert For Diana, including Meatloaf, Bryan Adams, Pharrell Williams, Orson, Joss Stone, Take That and Keane.

Elton, who sang at Diana's 1997 funeral, said he was "thrilled" to be taking part.

Duran Duran singer Simon Le Bon is set to perform a duet with Justin Timberlake.

Newly reformed Take That revealed they idolised Diana, who was killed in a Paris car crash in 1997.

Mark Owen said: "Princess Diana was such an amazing woman. I think it's lovely the princes want to do something to remember her."
