Kate Hudson Is "Too Needy"

Lance Armstrong's recent split from actress Kate Hudson was caused because she was "just too needy," an associate at Armstrong's LiveStrong foundation told the Chicago Sun-Times.

The cycling champion, 36, felt the '"Fool's Gold" actress, 28, came on "too strong, too fast," said the source. He sensed "Kate was way too desperate, a woman who clearly can't be on her own without a man in her life at all times.''

Armstrong also allegedly thought Hudson was escalating the relationship into something more serious than he wanted, turning dates into family outings with her son Ryder, 4, from her marriage to musician Chris Robinson.

The source also tells the newspaper that Armstrong's relationship with singer Sheryl Crow, which lasted for three years, was successful because ''Sheryl's one very independent woman. Lance liked that."

Like It Was Going To Last Anyways

Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong called it quits this weekend after a three-month romance that went public when they were spotted in Austin, Texas in mid-May, Usmagazine.com exclusively reports.

"There was no drama or ugliness – They just decided to end things," a source close to the couple tells Us. "There is no hatred, just sadness."

The pair quickly became inseparable with sightings of them in Austin, New York and Los Angeles – though both dodged questions about their relationship.

In the short time they were together, the 29-year-old actress was seen with the 36-year-old cyclist at many of his races and events, including his three-day Lance Armstrong Livestrong Summit in Columbus, Ohio this past weekend.

It was at the conference that Hudson and Armstrong decided to go their separate ways, a source tells Us.

Each had introduced the other to family. Hudson's mom Goldie Hawn gave what seemed to be her approval at a July 1 lunch at The Ivy at the Shore. Also, Hudson's four-year-old son Ryder went to a Father's Day brunch with Armstrong — and dad Chris Robinson – in June.

A rep for Armstrong had no comment while a rep for Hudson could not be reached.

Lance Got A Headlamp From Matt

The heartthrob actor bought each of his nearest and dearest a torch that can be worn on the head because he thinks they are brilliant.
He said: "I gave out a lot of headlamps, you know, the things you can wrap around your head and see what you're doing.

"I think they are one of the best inventions going. I gave electronic toothbrushes last year so it had to be headlamps this year." Meanwhile, McConaughey has tipped ex-girlfriend Penelope Cruz for Oscar success.

The 'We Are Marshall' actor insists he is still good friends with his former lover and was blown away by her performance in her latest movie 'Volver'.

McConaughey, 37, said: "I just saw 'Volver'. She's going to get an Oscar nomination - or she should. She's incredibly excited about that film."
