Back in 2006, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt earned their charitable reputation when they agreed to donate a reported $4 million to children in Africa from selling photographs of baby Shiloh. Part of the donation -- about $10,000 -- went specifically to buy 72 bicycles for children in two schools in northern Namibia. In a new 'Life & Style' feature story given exclusively to PopEater, the magazine talked to children who say Angelina helped give them a better future.

Without a bicycle, some children had very difficult routes to get to school that would impair their studies and leave them struggling.

"I had to get up at 5 a.m. and leave home in the dark to get to school on time," 16-year-old student Emiliana Shikongo told Life & Style. "It made me very tired." Using a bicycle, courtesy of Jolie, takes just minutes.

"Now I can stay at school until 4 or 5 p.m. to finish my homework and still get home before dark," she said. "Now my teachers and parents are happy with my performance - already I have improved my average, and my aim is to be getting 100 percent. I know with the bicycle I can do it."

"She's a very special person, and we'll never forget her," Shikongo said of Jolie.

"I think Angelina Jolie must be a saint," said student Andreas Kristofelius, 17.

Improving their marks in school can change the lives of the Namibian students, who, with an education, could grow up to become doctors or teachers and help improve the future generations of Namibia.
"The bicycles have made a huge difference," said math teacher Daniel Kapendye. "It's become easier to motivate kids to learn and do well."

To help set up the charitable organization, Jolie reached out to former Miss Universe Michelle McLean. Together, McLean and Jolie helped send money and donations to not just schools but orphanages, soup kitchens and early-childhood-development training for teachers.

"Angelina said the donation was Shiloh's legacy to Namibia," McLean told Life & Style. "She was excited about the bicycle project. She knows vast distances prevent a large number of kids from attending school every day."

Wanting what's best for his children.
"Would it bother me if a child of mine turns out to be gay? No, not one bit. Listen, I want my kids to live the lives they want to live. I want them to be fulfilled. I hope I teach my kids to be who they really are."

Why he won't marry Angelina Jolie.
"I have love in my life, a soul mate--absolutely. When someone asked me why Angie and I don't get married, I replied, 'Maybe we'll get married when it's legal for everyone else.' I stand by that, although I took a lot of flak for saying it--hate mail from religious groups. I believe everyone should have the same rights. They say gay marriage ruins families and hurts kids. Well, I've had the privilege of seeing my gay friends being parents and watching their kids grow up in a loving environment."

The right to love.
"Man, I resent people telling others how to live! It drives me mental! Just the other night, I heard this TV reverend say that Angie and I were setting a bad example because we were living out of wedlock, and people should not be duped by us! It made me laugh. What damn right does anyone have to tell someone else how to live if they're not hurting anyone? How many times do you think real love comes to someone in a lifetime? If you're lucky, maybe two or three."

Knowing real love.
"Do you know how you tell real love? It's when someone else's interest trumps your own. I like to put it that way: trumps your own. Love of somebody else--of family, of your kids--becomes the most important, most worthwhile thing in your life. It's what you foster and protect. You have to recognize real love when it's there and know that in going after it there is always risk. To live with love, you have to chance losing it. That's also true when you decide to have kids. It's the risk you take for love."

Lessons learned.
"As I've gotten older I've become aware that time is fleeting. I don't want to waste whatever I have left. I want to spend it with the people I love, and I want to do things that really mean something."

Admitting his fears.
"Angie's mom died a couple of years ago of cancer. I haven't had to face a lot of death. I'm untried in that way, and I don't know how I will deal with it. My real fear at this point is the safety and health of Angie and the kids. The fear of losing them is what keeps me up at night."

Owning up to his biggest role.
"I don't know who or what is meant to be in my life, but this is certainly where I want to be. Here with them. I think this is the pinnacle. Even as I'm bound to this thing, in a way I'm freer than I've ever been."

Becoming a family man.
"My life has been about big changes. It's always been that way. When I go down a path, I take it to the end. Then I take another one. I took the path of not having kids--now it's time for family. Children are a dominant value in my life now, and they weren't before. They were always something I thought I'd get around to having when the time was right. It wasn't what I was really seeking. In a way, I think I had to go and exhaust me before I could be good at being a parent. This family is full of life! There are laughs, aggravations, irritations, but at the end of the day, it's fun. When life is really good, it's messy."

His early days in Hollywood.
"I liked to smoke a bit of grass at the time, and I became very sheltered. Then I got bored. I was turning into a damn doughnut, really. So I moved as far away from that as I could. I was done. In Missouri, where I come from, we don't talk about what we do--we just do it. If we talk about it, it's seen as bragging."

Building his dream house.
"This was my first architectural experience where I tried doing something myself. It is something I wanted to do for decades. This is like play to me. It's the only thing that can take me away from any problems I may have. After a few years of work, it came out so nice. Now I've got so many damn kids, it's the only place we could all fit in. We're double-bunking rooms as it is."

About the secret stone grotto behind the waterfall in his pool...
"[It's] a great place for sex."

Raising an international family.
"I travel a lot. I don't feel restless, I just like to travel. I like to see it all. We're trying to spend more time in the South of France, because our kids have a more normal life there. I don't believe there is any way around our kids being international. So we have projects in each of their respective countries, and we put a big emphasis on their learning their native languages."

His foreign fantasy.
"I wish there had been an emphasis on learning a foreign language where I grew up. It frustrates the hell out of me. I've studied French. I don't speak it. I'm working on it. It's real slow going. Oh, how I suffer! Those synapses never formed! They're dry-docked for good!"

Some of you may twitch at the name “Daniel Edwards”. He’s an artist/sculptor of the “celebrity shock” variety. He seems to use celebrity images exclusively to create some kind of pseudo-political-cultural message. Like his “Monument to Pro-Life” which featured a pregnant Britney Spears on her knees on a bearskin rug, giving birth. Or the “Oprah Sarcophagus”, which Edwards claimed he made to raise awareness about baby boomers’ health care needs. Daniel has done many more, which you can see here and here.

His latest work features none other than Angelina Jolie. According to the reports, the sculture was inspired by last year’s W Magazine cover, with Brad Pitt photographing Angelina Jolie breastfeeding one of their newborn twins. The sculpture features a nude Angelina, simultaneously breastfeeding two babies against each breast. The sculpture will debut in Norman, Oklahoma in the second week of September, all as part of World Breastfeeding Week.

Don’t believe the hype — Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie do not argue!

Despite endless headlines suggesting trouble in their relationship, Brad insists he and Angie don’t have enough time for petty squabbling.

“The thing I am more aware of now is the passing of time. I don’t want to waste any of it, so we don’t waste time arguing between us,” the 45-year-old actor tells Britain’s Reveal magazine in a new interview. “I don’t know whether I have one day, 10 days, 10 years or another 44 years, so I don’t want to spend a moment on pettiness or bitterness.”

He adds: “I want to be in the company of those who I really love – it might be chaos, but it gives me joy.”

Timur Bekmambetov Explains How Angelina Jolie Could Be In Wanted 2
So Wanted ended with a pretty final resolution for Angelina Jolie's character. But she's supposedly coming back for the sequel. We asked director Timur Bekmambetov how she could return, and his answer was as simple as curving a bullet.

So yes, Fox shot herself (and a ton of other people) in the head at the end of Wanted. But that doesn't mean she can't return, says Bekmambetov:
We are working hard to wake her up. She was deadly wounded. The bullet's still there (in her head), and now it's a process of how to wake her up. There has to be a reason for that. We survive if we have a reason to live. She decided [to shoot herself], it's her decision. And now we are trying to figure out what's the motivation for her to resurrect. It's happening. I think we will make it happen.

So they're not undoing the gunshot wound to the head, or showing her in flashbacks, or bringing her forward in time or anything. Instead, they're sticking to the gonzo anything-can-happen, power-of-the-human-mind spirit of the original, by having her recover from a deadly bullet wound through sheer will power. Which, really, is as it should be.

Timur Bekmambetov was doing interviews for his stitchpunk movie 9, but we'll have plenty more on that later.

During the Comic-Con panel for the upcoming "stitchpunk" computer-animated film 9, producer Timur Bekmambetov talked briefly about the follow-up to his last film, the violent action film Wanted. "Yes, I think it's coming," Bekmambetov said. "We're working hard to be ready to shoot in a few months."
The original Wanted was released in 2008 and grossed more than $134 million at the domestic box office. When asked whether the film would reunite original stars James McAvoy and Angelina Jolie, Bekmambetov deftly revealed, "James McAvoy will be in the movie, and he will try to wake up our Fox."

Jolie's character died at the end of the first film, but when asked where Fox currently resides, Bekmembetov said evasively, "She's in a bath with wax," referring to the healing baths which the characters took in the first film to repair themselves after so much gun-toting mayhem.

There could be trouble in paradise after Angelina Jolie walked out on Brad Pitt after an argument last Sunday, according to reports.

Brangelina - as they are often dubbed - are currently renting a house in LA where they are believed to have had a massive row following a birthday party for their twins Vivienne and Knox.

Although there have been rumours of a split for months now, it seems the could be it for the pair after a friend of theirs told Grazia magazine: "Minutes after the argument, she got up, threw together a bag of clothes and ran to her car. She checked straight into a suite at the Raffles L'Ermitage hotel."

The source also said that the 34-year-old Changeling actress, who has six children with Pitt, collapsed to the floor sobbing just after the row. Doesn’t Ange realise that I think she’s amazing? Perhaps she should come hang out at my house for a while?

David Beckham has refused to star in an advert with Angelina Jolie because he is married.

The British soccer star - who recently celebrated his tenth wedding anniversary with wife Victoria - doesn't want to upset his spouse by posing for an Emporio Armani underwear campaign with the stunning Hollywood star, who is in a relationship with Brad Pitt.

He told US TV show 'Extra': "She is an amazing person and so is Brad. They're an incredible couple and they have an amazing family. You know she wouldn't do it and I wouldn't do it.

"At the end of the day, I wouldn't do it because I'm married."

Last week, it was claimed father-of-three David and Angelina - who raises six children with Brad - were set to team up for a steamy set of ads.

David signed a deal with the Italian fashion house in 2007, while Angelina was unveiled as their new female face last month.

A source said: "When you have David Beckham and Angelina Jolie signed up to your fashion house it's a no-brainer to link them up.

"They appeal to a diverse audience and a collaboration would create so much publicity it would push Armani head and shoulders above their rivals."

David has previously posed with Victoria for raunchy underwear adverts for the exclusive label.

A fashion industry source tells Life & Style, “Armani rolled up the Brink’s truck for Angelina, because frankly, she’s worth it. For this fragrance push, they needed a true A-lister, and Angelina is the biggest, most dynamic female star in the world.”

The insider says Angelina is very hands-on with the process, saying, “She’s giving a lot of input on that stuff already, picking the photographers and directors. The campaign is going to be bold.”

Angelina Jolie was one of the main speakers at the World Refugee Day conference at the National Geographic Museum in Washington D.C. yesterday (June 18).

An excerpt from her speech:

“I know the strength that diversity has given my country – a country built by what some would now dismiss as asylum-seekers and economic migrants – and I believe we must persuade the world that refugees must not be simply viewed as a burden. They are the survivors. And they can bring those qualities to the service of their communities and the countries that shelter them."

Since her first field visit, an 18-day mission to Sierra Leone and Tanzania, Jolie has been on field missions around the world and met with refugees and internally displaced persons in more than 20 countries. She insisted on covering all costs related to her missions and shared the same rudimentary working and living conditions as UNHCR field staff on all of her visits and has donated generously to refugee- and child protection-related causes. The Jolie-Pitt Foundation has funded a children's center in Cambodia and is currently funding an AIDS and Tuberculosis treatment center in Ethiopia. Jolie also co-chairs the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, founded at the Clinton Global Initiative in 2006, which helps fund education programs for children affected by conflict. Privately, Jolie has co-founded KIND, Kids in Need of Defense, to "provide legal representation for 100 per cent of unaccompanied children,"many of whom are victims of sex trafficking.

The Holy Hotness or better known as Ambassador Angelina Jolie recorded a public service announcement drawing attention to the sufferings of millions of people who are forced to leave their home because of war or persecution.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have donated $1 million to a US hospital.

The Hollywood couple gave the generous contribution to St. John's Hospital in the actor's hometown of Springfield, Missouri, over the weekend.

The money will be used to establish an endowment fund to pay for children's cancer specialists.

Brad's brother Doug - who also contributed to the donation - revealed the treatment unit will be renamed the Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center in honour of their mother who is very passionate about children's health issues.

The money will also go towards building a new paediatric unit, a 10-bedroom hospice and increasing the size of the neonatal and paediatric intensive care units.

Once it is completed, St. John's will become one of six affiliates of the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

Angelina and Brad - who have three adopted children, Maddox, seven, Pax, five, and four-year-old Zahara, as well as three biological children, Shiloh, three, and 11-month-old twins Konx and Vivienne - are known for their work with good causes.

Last year, it was revealed they had donated over $8 million to charity.

Angelina Jolie will be joining CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360” on World Refugee Day on June 18, Access Hollywood has learned.

The humanitarian star has been filming the spy drama “Salt” on location in New York City and Washington, D.C., but she hasn’t forgotten about her causes. Jolie wrote an article for Time magazine earlier this month expressing outrage over the conflict in Darfur.

“Darfur has almost disappeared from the news, and experts now call it a ‘low-intensity’ conflict. But the intensity of the crisis has not lessened for those who are struggling to survive,” she wrote at the time, imploring the United Nations Security Council to move forward on the issue.

Angelina Jolie has a long history of using this day to raise awareness of the harsh realities refugees face. She appeared on AC 360 on World Refugee Day in 2006 and again on 2007. Here is a clip from her 2007 interview:

The annual Forbes Celebrity 100 Power List sees a strong showing from women, with Madonna and Beyonce Knowles ensuring that the fairer sex takes up four of the top five places.

In a mixed year for Britons, Coldplay led the UK charge coming in at number 15 thanks to the success of their Viva la Vida album. There was, however, no room for chef Gordon Ramsay and Harry Potter writer JK Rowling, both of whom dropped off the list.

The Forbes celebrity power index is determined by annual earnings and media visibility.
Winfrey was named top earner, taking home 275 million dollars (£168 million). But she was beaten to the top by Jolie who despite earning less than a 10th of Winfrey's wage was named most powerful celebrity due to her near omnipresence in the pages of tabloids and celebrity magazine.

Golfer Tiger Woods came in at fifth on the annual index - the only man represented in the top five.

Commenting on the list, Lacey Rose, senior reporter at Forbes, said: "It really was the year of the woman. What we see at the top of the list is tabloid-targeted people who command a big attraction through their artistic work and at the news stands."

JK Rowling dropped off the list despite being the highest earner on last year's list. The lack of a Harry Potter book over the period led to a lower profile for the writer.

And despite picking up an Oscar, there was also no room for Kate Winslet.But other Britons were deemed to have enough clout to make the list.

Actor Hugh Laurie, the star of the US medical drama House, debuted at 94. Meanwhile the continued success of Pop Idol, X Factor and Britain's Got Talent, ensured that Simon Cowell took 25th place, with his earnings for the year estimated at 75 million dollars (£46 million).

Elsewhere, the list included its first sitting head of state. President Barack Obama, on the back of an historic election win and continued sales of his two books, entered the index at 49.

Angelina Jolie’s co-workers on the New York set of her new movie Salt are worried that she might be self-harming.

The actress — whose relationship with partner Brad Pitt is said to have broken down completely — has been shutting herself away in her trailer most days, fueling speculation she may have starting cutting herself again, a habit Jolie has admitted to in the past.

“Angie’s been crying in her trailer most days and is barely eating. She keeps forgetting her lines and she’s been shaking and staring into space,” a movie insider tells Britain’s Now magazine.

“In fact, it’s been so bad that some crew members have suspected she’s using drugs, although that’s out of the question. But the ones who know her realize it could be something much, much worse if she’s self-harming.

“When she’s at home she just about holds it together, but she stays up listening to the same song over and over and rarely sleeps.”
