Princess Diana's Tribute Concert

Sir Elton John led a star-studded line up at the Concert for Diana yesterday (01.07.07).

The 60-year old musician opened and closed the emotional charity event which featured a host of top entertainers, including Lily Allen, Rod Stewart, Kanye West, Duran Duran and Take That.

The show was organised by Diana's sons Princes William and Harry to mark the 10th anniversary of her death, on what would have been her 46th birthday.

Elton - who performed at Diana's 1997 funeral - opened the spectacular show with 'Your Song' before another of Diana's favourite artists Duran Duran got the 63,000 fans packed into London's new Wembley Stadium dancing with their upbeat new song 'Sunrise', as well as classic hits 'Wild Boys' and 'Rio'.

A global audience of more than 500 million people in 140 countries around the world watched the event.

The show, which started at 4pm and went on for more than six hours, also featured a collection of celebrity presenters who introduced the acts and paid tribute to Diana and her legacy.

Sienna Miller and actor Dennis Hopper introduced third act Lily Allen, and other presenters included '24' star Kiefer Sutherland, Gillian Anderson, Patsy Kensit and British comedian Ricky Gervais.

One of the biggest receptions was reserved for soccer superstar David Beckham who was greeted with a standing ovation as he introduced Take That to the delirious audience.

The show ended as it began with Elton bringing the day to a crescendo with classic hits 'Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting', 'Are You Ready For Love' and 'Tiny Dancer'.

Proceeds from the event will go to a series of Princess Diana's favourite charities, including the National AIDS Trust and homeless charity Centrepoint.

Robbie Williams To Strip For Elton John

Robbie Williams is to strip at Sir Elton John's 60th birthday party.

The flamboyant singer is celebrating reaching the landmark age on March 25 with a special performance at New York's Madison Square Garden. It will be the 60th time he has played at the world famous venue.

Elton is said to have asked his friend Robbie, 32, to perform on the night and make the day extra-special, and the 'Angles' singer has obliged by offering to do a striptease while performing classic Tom Jones hit 'You Can Leave Your Hat On'.

The song is synonymous with stripping after it was used to soundtrack a male stripping scene in hit British comedy film 'The Full Monty', which starred Robert Carlyle.

A source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "Robbie knows this is one gift Elton won't be able to out do.

"The pair love to shock each other, so Elton will probably already be cooking up something for Robbie's birthday next month."

Elton John Wants Superman

Elton must have heard about the rumor during the Superman Return's shoots... you know about Kevin Spacey and Brandon Routh and the director thus he wants to get into the action too...LOL

Anyways, Sir Elton John's charitable attempts to buy a part in the next Superman film were foiled yesterday.

The singer bid £40,000 at a fundraising event for the Old Vic theatre in London yesterday, but was outbid by a fellow knight - British businessman Sir Philip Green. It is believed that Green's wife will take the part.

Other auctions included a dinner date with heiress socialite Paris Hilton, which was snapped up for £30,000. The Old Vic's artistic director Kevin Spacey hailed the event as a "really valuable contribution to our work at the theatre".

Religion Is Poison According To Elton John

Okay not reallyt but close. I swear this guy is turning into a tired bitter bitchy old queen... okay not turning but is already one since ages ago.

Reuters reported:

Elton John has said organised religion should be banned because it promotes homophobia and turns some people into "hateful lemmings".

"I would ban religion completely, even though there are some wonderful things about it," the singer said in an interview with the Observer newspaper on Sunday.

"Religion has always tried to turn hatred towards gay people. It turns people into hateful lemmings and it is not really compassionate."

In an interview, he said his "bad temper and irrationality" emerged only when he was tired.

With that, we can not say that Elton John is very very very tired.
