Pope to consider easing celibacy rules for priests

Daily Mail Reports:

Pope Benedict has called a meeting of Vatican advisers for a "reflection" on issues related to celibacy in the Church following a schism led by a renegade African archbishop who wants priests to be able to marry.

The meeting, to be held on Thursday, was announced by the Vatican's press office on Monday in a short statement that a spokesman said did not imply a review of current rules that priests remain celibate.

The Roman Catholic Church insists that its priests remain celibate and has ruled out letting them marry, which advocates say would make some men more willing to join the priesthood and ease the shortage of priests in many parts of the world.

Priests were permitted to wed during the first millennium, but marriage was condemned by the Church at the Second Lateran Council in 1139.

Now this is interesting. Less gay people joining the priesthood to "hide" they alternative way of life from friends and families.

All I can say is this, ABOUT TIME!!!! Does it really matter if a priest is married or not as long as he is true to his vocation, to spread the words of God?

But whatever.

Carol Channing Hates Gay People

Homos may idolize Carol Channing, but the Broadway legend doesn't seem to feel the same way about us. When asked about her very large gay following by the Gay People’s Chronicle, the octogenarian decided it would be a good idea to wax religious and righteous. “I don’t think about them. I’m grateful that they seem to like me. They’re terribly loyal to me. But I’m knee-deep in the Bible and you know what it says about that,” she admonished. Even after realizing the interview was for a gay publication, she went on to dig herself a deeper hole. When asked her opinion on the fight for gay rights, the Hello, Dolly! star simply said, “I don’t think about it. If they can’t take care of their own problems, why should I bother. It’s not my problem.”

Wow!!! That was a bit harsh and pretty judgemental. And who said getting older mean getting wiser too. That old bitch!!!!

Now isn't Ru Paul fab!!!! Ru Paul should show this old bat a thing or two.

Rachel Weisz Says It's Okay To Drink When Pregnant

Oscar-winnng actress Rachel Weisz has sparked controversy by saying it is acceptable for pregnant women to drink alcohol like a glass of wine after the first three months.

Of course with comments like that, it was bound to stir some people up like medical experts who described such comments as "ill-informed" and "dangerous".

British-born Miss Weisz added: "I mean in Europe they drink it".

And of course another comment like that... well you know how that goes. Sharon Fleisher, founder of the National Organization of Foetal Alcohol Syndrome said: "She is also wrong about Europe because as of October 2007, France are putting warning labels on all stock in the shops."

Yet Another Hypocrisy

A leading evangelist and outspoken opponent of gay marriage has given up his post as president of the National Association of Evangelicals while a church panel investigates allegations he paid a man for sex.

The Rev. Ted Haggard resigned as head of the 30 million-member association Thursday and also gave up leadership of his New Life Church pending the investigation into allegations he had monthly trysts with a gay prostitute over the past three years.

Haggard, a married father of five, denied the allegations, but the acting pastor of his church later said that Haggard had acknowledged some of the accusations were true.

"I just know that there has been some admission of indiscretion, not admission to all of the material that has been discussed, but there is an admission of some guilt," Ross Parsley told KKTV-TV of Colorado Springs.

I really am not surprise by this.
