"Casino Royale" Best Bond Ever

"Casino Royale" has shot past the worldwide record for a James Bond movie, thanks mostly to strong international performance over the Christmas holiday weekend.
Sony's "Casino" cashed in overseas with $14.5 million at 6,300 during the weekend through Sunday, lifting the foreign total to $304.4 million -- the 41st biggest international gross of all time. It's only the fourth 2006 pic to clear $300 million, joining "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," "The Da Vinci Code" and "Ice Age: The Meltdown."

With domestic gross near $144 million, "Casino" has a worldwide total of $448 million -- $17 million better than "Die Another Day," the previous best Bond performer. It opened solidly in South Korea with $2.3 million at 350.

"Casino" looks likely to tack on another $5 million internationally on Christmas Day, even though theaters will be closed in some markets such as the U.K.

James Bond Loves The Gays

Seems Bond bombshell Daniel Craig is feeling the holiday spirit. In an effort to please gay fans, the British actor has requested that studio execs “modernize” the spy series by including homoerotic scenes and full-frontal nudity. “Why not? I think in this day and age, fans would have accepted it,” Craig apparently told ContactMusic.com. “I mean, look at [British TV series] Doctor Who—that has had gay scenes in it and no one blinks an eye.” You’ll have to wait for Casino Royale’s follow-up to see what Craig’s packin’, but you can sate yourself now with the current flick’s jaw-dropping torture scene, where a naked, sweat-soaked Bond is bound to a chair by one of the bad guys. Props to Danny for his big, um, heart.

The Hottest James Bond Ever?

Hot new James Bond Daniel Craig has received some stunning reviews for his performance in the just-opened Casino Royale. Like many critics, the U.K. Daily Mail’s Sarah Sands was particularly taken by a scene in which Craig is tied naked to a chair “about to have his testicles whipped with a length of rope by the villain.” Preparing to do his dastardly deed, the villain praises Bond’s impeccable body. “Who could argue,” writes Sands. “This film is an homage to the six-pack, a celebration of musculature. It will be enjoyed by everyone, but above all gym fetishists.” Sounds just up our alley.

Daniel Craig... The Grumpy James Bond

He has been dubbed the Blond Bond for his looks and then Premium Bond for his rave reviews - but at last night's Casino Royale premiere his stony demeanour made him seem more like his spy boss M... for Miserable.

Arriving at the Leicester Square showcase Craig was neither shaken nor stirred into a smile, and revealed he didn't care what his critics said about his performance, claiming: "Every day I just went out and did the best I could."

And his mood didn't lighten at the £250,000 after-show party at Mayfair's Berkeley Square. Craig, dressed in a regulation black tie outfit, said while he enjoyed the occasional vodka martini there was only so much of Bond's tipple of choice he could stomach. Instead, he made a beeline for the Guinness.

While guests including footballer Teddy Sheringham and his girlfriend, former Miss Great Britain Danielle Lloyd, gambled on the casino tables, Craig left the bash early.

Just after midnight he shed his bow tie, unbuttoned his shirt and left, grim-faced and clutching the arm of his 29-year-old girlfriend Satsuki Mitchell. Other celebrities partied on for another two hours.

In stark contrast to Craig's intense looks, the Queen glowed with excitement at the premiere.

She and Prince Philip were guests of honour at the screening and arrived in regal style - although, unusually, the windows o f their Bentley weren't tinted.

One security insider said: "She never uses a car with clear windows but tonight she could be seen telling her driver to slow down so she could do the royal wave to fans.

"And Prince Philip was sitting in the back seat like an over-excited child at the prospect of going to a Bond movie."

Queen to Attend Bond Premiere Tonite

The Queen (Not Elton John but the real one) and the Duke of Edinburgh are to attend the world premiere of the new James Bond film, Casino Royale.

The premiere will take place in London's Leicester Square tonite.

Oh dear, the traffic this will cause just to watch Daniel Craig. I wonder if the Queen has seen him in his movie "Love Is The Devil". Just wondering.
