'Ugly Betty' Is Turning 'Ugly'????

Producers of ABC’s Ugly Betty have ordered Golden Globe-winning series star America Ferrera to drop the not so pretty attitude.

Set insiders tell The National Enquirer, America has become impossible to work with as the show edges toward its fourth season.

“Everyone on Ugly Betty needs a break–but America is the root of the trouble.”

Last month, ABC programming bosses announced that they were putting the hit dramedy on hiatus–indefinitely–beginning March 26; Ugly Betty producers hope some time off will help the young star put things in prospect.

“… The brass is sick of dealing with the cast’s petty disagreements and infighting instigated by America’s diva behavior,” one spywitness claims. “They’re hoping the hiatus scares America straight and serves as a reality check that she’s not indispensable-and not the center of the universe.”

Ugly Betty is expected to return to the air in June.

US House Of Representative Salutes 'Ugly Betty'

UGLY BETTY star AMERICA FERRERA has been praised in the US House of Representatives for her Golden Globe Award win and work raising the profile of Latinos.

Congresswoman HILDA L SOLIS from California took to the floor of the US House of Representatives on Wednesday (17JAN07) to publicly salute the star.

Solis said, "Madame Speaker, I rise today to congratulate American Ferrera for winning the Golden Globe for best actress in a comedy for her work in ABC show Ugly Betty.

"Through her work, Ms Ferrera is breaking down barriers for Latinos in prime-time television."

"I commend America and everyone involved in Ugly Betty for helping to break down stereotypes and provide a role model for young Latinas."

Ugly Betty Rules!!!!

SALMA HAYEK has leaped to the defence of her new show UGLY BETTY, insisting it challenges traditional notions of beauty rather than enforces them.

The sexy screen star has come under a barrage of attack from critics who fear the programme, about a frumpy fashion assistant, is placing renewed pressure on girls to look good.

But Hayek maintains the show's title and content are meant to be an ironic take on conventional views.

She says, "The title has a lot to do with the tone of the show - it's sarcastic. I don't think BETTY is really ugly, but what do we call ugly now? "Some people think that anybody who is not super-skinny and really tall is ugly. Not me. I personally have seen a lot of really skinny, tall models that are ugly and need to eat a little more to look healthy.

"So the title is actually sarcastic, we're making fun of it - we're not really calling her ugly, we're making fun of the people that would think she's ugly. Personally, I think she's beautiful."

Ugly Betty Is The Best Comedy TV Show Ever

America Ferrera hopes her role as a frumpy secretary in hit TV show Ugly Betty helps young women become confident with their body image. Ferrera, who plays a New York City girl who manages to get a job in a body fascist fashion company in the program, thinks it's about time a popular show starred a woman of an average weight.

The 22-year-old says, "To me, Betty is an opportunity to represent a generation of young women who don't recognize themselves on anything they are watching. The whole issue of body image and weight exists for everybody in the West. I'm not a model, I'm a normal human being. I have days when I feel like I'm queen of the universe, then others when I feel as though I just want to crawl back into bed because I feel gross."

All They Really Want To Do Is Act

Pete Doherty is set to make his acting debut with a lead movie role.

The Babyshambles frontman is set to star alongside British actress Kelly Brook, 27, in a remake of 'Carry On Cruising'.

A source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "Pete was approached about playing a wannabe rock star who works as a performer on a cruise ship.

"It's a rags to riches tale where in the end he gets it all - the lifestyle, the money and the girl."


And Now Naomi Campbell.

Naomi Campbell is set to launch an acting career.

The feisty catwalk queen has been offered a part in hit US sitcom 'Ugly Betty', and has revealed her character sounds very similar to her real-life persona.

She told Britain's New magazine: "They plan to make my character a loony who loves to shop and can't find a man. It's totally whack and that's great for me."

Naomi - who had assault charges against her dropped in December - also claims she has been approached to star in worldwide hit police drama 'CSI'.

She added: "Well, maybe - that is for the future only and I am very happy about it."
