David Letterman tells audience that McCain called him today to tell him he had to rush back to DC to deal with the economy.

Then in the middle of the taping Dave got word that McCain was, in fact just down the street being interviewed by Katie Couric. Dave even cut over to the live video of the interview, and said, "Hey Senator, can I give you a ride home?"

Earlier in the show, Dave kept saying, "You don't suspend your campaign. This doesn't smell right. This isn't the way a tested hero behaves." And he joked: "I think someone's putting something in his metamucil."

"He can't run the campaign because the economy is cratering? Fine, put in your second string quarterback, Sara Palin. Where is she?"

"What are you going to do if you're elected and things get tough? Suspend being president? We've got a guy like that now!"

John McCain Hates Madonna

Political tortoise John McCain has stopped munching his lettuce for a second, blinked those rheumy old eyes and begun to moan in his reedy, thin voice at Madonna.

The arthritic Queen of Pop has used McCain's image in the video backdrop to her tour show, where his face appears alongside that of Hitler and Robert Mugabe. Conversely, the image of Barack Obama, McCain's opponent for the White House has his face appearing alongside that of John Lennon and Gandhi. No idea what Madonna is getting at there – it's all far too subtle for me.

McCain raised his stick and issued a statement which incredibly failed to begin with the words 'Back in my day…'

Madonna Hates McCain

U.S. presidential candidate JOHN McCAIN took aim at MADONNA after the pop superstar seemingly used her latest world tour to compare the Republican leader to history’s most notorious dictators.

The Material Girl kicked off her Sweet & Sticky tour in Cardiff, Wales on Saturday (23Aug08), and featured McCain in a video segment which accompanied the song Get Stupid.

In the footage, watched by thousands of fans, the Republican politician’s image was flashed up alongside scenes of destruction, global warming and starving children.

Adolf Hitler and Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe also appeared on-screen.

And McCain’s representatives are furious at the singer’s comparisons, stating fans of democratic contender Barack Obama will stop at nothing to smear McCain’s campaign.

The Republican’s spokesman Tucker Bounds says, "The comparisons are outrageous, unacceptable and crudely divisive all at the same time.
"It clearly shows that when it comes to supporting Barack Obama, his fellow worldwide celebrities refuse to consider any smear or attack off limits." Although Madonna hasn’t publicly backed Obama, she featured the popular politician alongside images of beloved cultural icons, including John Lennon, Gandhi and climate control advocate Al Gore.

Is This The Future President???

Republican John McCain addressed the issue of gay marriage on an upcoming espisode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

The presdential wannabe says same-sex couples should only be allowed to enter into legal agreements for insurance and other purposes. But that’s where he draws the line. Allowing gays and lesbians to marry is just simply out of the question.

Here’s what went down.

McCain: “I just believe the unique status of marriage between and man and a woman. And I know that we have a respectful disagreement on that issue.”

Ellen: Mmm-hmm…yeah, I mean, I think that it is looked at — and some people are saying the same — that blacks and women did not have the right to vote. I mean, women just got the right to vote in 1920. Blacks didn’t have the right to vote until 1870 and it just feels like there’s this old way of thinking that we are not all the same. We are all the same people, all of us. You’re no different than I am. Our love is the same…When someone says, ‘You can have a contract, and you’ll still have insurance, and you’ll get all that,’ it sounds to me like saying, ‘Well, you can sit there, you just can’t sit there.’…It feels like we are not, you know, we aren’t owed the same things and the same wording.”

McCain: “Well, I’ve heard you articulate that position in a very eloquent fashion. We just have a disagreement. And I, along with many, many others, wish you every happiness.”

Ellen: “So, you’ll walk me down the aisle? Is that what you’re saying?”

McCain: “Touche.”

John McCain's myspace page used a template made by Mike Davidson. Anyone can use it but you aren't supposed to hotlink the images and you have to give Davidson credit. The McCain team didn't do that, so Davidson changed the hotlinked image to show how much McCain supports gay marriage.

"Today I announce that I have reversed my position and come out in full support of gay marriage…particularly marriage between two passionate females."

John McCain Hates Bloggers

John McCain has made clear that he doesn’t like the blogosphere.

Now he has introduced legislation that would treat blogs like Internet service providers and hold them responsible for all activity in the comments sections and user profiles. Some highlights of the legislation:

– Commercial websites and personal blogs “would be required to report illegal images or videos posted by their users or pay fines of up to $300,000.”

– Internet service providers (ISPs) are already required to issue such reports, but under McCain’s legislation, bloggers with comment sections may face “even stiffer penalties” than ISPs.

— Social networking sites will be forced to take “effective measures” — such as deleting user profiles — to remove any website that is “associated” with a sex offender. Sites may include not only Facebook and MySpace, but also Amazon.com, which permits author profiles and personal lists, and blogs like DailyKos, which allows users to sign up for personal diaries.

Kevin Bankston of the Electronic Frontier Foundation notes that this proposal may be based more “on fear or political considerations rather than on the facts.” When he introduced his legislation to the Senate, McCain offered no evidence that children are being victimized by people who post comments on blogs.

McCain’s legislation could deal a serious blow to the blogosphere. Lacking resources to police their sites, many individual blogs may have to shut down open discussion.
