AMY WINEHOUSE is on the verge of a massive career and financial boost courtesy of GEORGE CLOONEY and JULIA ROBERTS - who have been assigned to recruit the troubled singer for an exclusive New York event.

Party host and fashion designer Giorgio Armani has asked the Hollywood pair who are co-chairs at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute, where the event will be held on 5 May (08) - to offer the Back To Black star $1 million (£500,000) to perform.
A source tells British newspaper The Sun, "Giorgio has made it no secret to his friends that he would love to work with Amy.

"He sees this party as an ideal opportunity to sound her out about future projects together." Gianfranco Ferre Dead

LATEST: Fashion’s biggest names have paid tribute to Italian fashion designer GIANFRANCO FERRE who died at the age of 62 after suffering a brain hemmorhage.

Ferre died at Milan’s San Raffaele hospital on Sunday night (17JUN07).

Giorgio Armani and Donatella Versace are the first to express their sorrow.

Armani says, "I particularly admired him for his coherence and the intellectualism and artistry upon which he based his fashion philosophy until the end." Versace called him "a gentleman from another time", adding, "I am so upset.

Ten years after the death of my brother, I have now lost a friend as well."

The former England captain agreed a staggering £128 million deal to join the Los Angeles Galaxy soccer club last week and the revered designer is convinced it is because the sports star wants to make it big in Hollywood.

Armani said: ""If the reports are true, then he has done the right thing.

And I think he wants to be an actor, not a soccer player." Armani is convinced David, 31, and his wife Victoria, 32, will be a big hit in the US, because they have the good looks and the star quality needed to make it Stateside.
