I'm not even sure if this is true or VH1 planned this to promote Jessica Simpson's reality series, The Price of Beauty, but here goes....

Jessica Simpson is nursing a broken heart for the second time in two months after the desperately lonely 29-year-old singleton was shot down for a date by ex-husband Nick Lachey.

According to The National Enquirer’s “Gossip With Mike Walker” Column, Jessica was stunned speechless when the former 98 Degrees singer shot down her suggestion that they meet up for a drink before she left the country to begin filming her VH1 reality series, The Price of Beauty earlier this month.

Lachey parted ways with longtime girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo in June, while Simpson split from Dallas Cowboys star Tony Romo on the eve of her 29th birthday.

Enquirer spies describe the conversation between the phone conversation between the two as “awkward.”

“After about 15 minutes of pleasantries, Jessica finally got up the nerve to ask if they could get together for a drink,” a tattling tipster reveals.

“He was very to the point,” says the spy, “Jessica wasn’t prepared for it. He said he was sorry about her breakup with Tony, but getting together for a drink, dinner, or anything at all was not in the cards for him — now or ever.”

Jessica was crushed as Nick added, “It’s best to leave things as they are.”

...But if this is true, it just made me love Nick more... Just saying.

Jessica And Nick Are Not Getting Back Together

Although Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, former spouses and stars of the reality show Newlyweds, now find themselves suddenly single at the same time, Lachey insists there is no reunion planned.

"I think it’s fun storytelling, but there's very little truth to any of it," the singer told PEOPLE at a party at Dusk at the Caesars Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City Saturday night. "I certainly have heard about her breakup and I wish her the best, as I’ve always done. Aside from that, there really is nothing to say."

So has he reached out to his ex-wife since her sudden split with Tony Romo? "I haven't talked to her in probably two years," Lachey says. "I wish her happiness. That’s where it pretty much ends."

As for his own recent breakup with girlfriend of three years, Vanessa Minnillo, Lachey doesn't seem to be too torn up over it. "I'm in a good place," he says. "I've learned, through years of not only being in this business, but being in relationships, that you have to take it as it goes. With every experience, you learn something about your life, and you try to take that and move on and be a better person because of it. We'll see what happens."

Taking a break from his sports duties at the Super Skins Celebrity Golf Classic in Tampa, FL, Nick Lachey has commented on the mini-maelstrom that’s popped about Jessica Simpson’s weight.

“I wish her nothing but the best and I hope she’s happy — whatever size that comes in,” he tells Extra. “I can’t believe it’s this big of a story and people are making such a huge deal about it. It never ceased to be amazed by people’s reactions to things.”

Considering how much attention Jessica gave to her losing the pounds during filming of Dukes of Hazzard, isn’t it only fair that she suffers the same fate on the flipside? Just sayin’….

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo have been dating for what seems like a celebrity eternity – about two years. Minnillo has long been reported to be nearly desperate to marry Lachey, especially since the pair moved in together last year. Accounts that she’s putting pressure on Lachey are heating up – but Nick is said not to be interested, at least for the time being. There are also a lot of stories floating around about Minnillo’s immature behavior, comparing her to a high school drama queen. And he came unglued with the former MTV host accused him of still being in love with ex-wife Jessica Simpson, pals reveal.

Their problems were on public display March 25 at the trendy restaurant Katsuya when they “sat in stone silence for more than 30 minutes after having what appeared to be an argument,” according to an eyewitness. “As they left that night, Vanessa was in tears sitting next to Nick who was gripping the steering wheel of the car.”

Three nights earlier, at a birthday bash for basketball star Baron Davis at the Stone Rose Lounge. Vanessa “had a good bit to drink, and she turned into a bitchy high school drama queen,” said an eyewitness. “She was rude to some people and then flirted with a bunch of athletes, partying like a single girl. She was hanging all over other guys. Vanessa was rude to fans who wanted her autograph. She spent half the evening sneering at other female guests. From what I saw, it’s not wonder Nick is sick of her.”

The Enquirer goes on to talk about how desperate Minnillo is to “get a ring on her finger” and “have Nick’s babies.” I get really tired of the way they portray women as thinking about nothing but marriage and babies… but to be fair, that seems to be most of what you hear about in Minnillo’s case. Whatever career she had as an MTV VJ has totally died out, and her acting career hasn’t exactly taken off. The only thing she’s notable for anymore is dating Nick. Given all that, it makes sense that she’s pressuring him into marriage – what else has she got to focus on? According to the Enquirer, Nick is not giving in. He’s not in love with ex-wife Jessica Simpson anymore, but he’s still stung by their divorce, and remarriage is the last thing on his mind right now. Something tells me one of them will be giving the other an ultimatum pretty soon.

Coming from the Enquirer, I doubt it very much.... couples do fight but that does not mean they're splitting....

Nick Lachey Goes Reality TV Again

NICK LACHEY is making a return to reality TV after signing up to produce a new show for MTV.

The Newlyweds: Nick And Jessica star - who split from Jessica Simpson in 2006 - is behind a new series based loosely on 1980s TV series Fame, which followed the lives of a fictional group of teens at a performing arts school in New York.

Lachey reveals the show will be a "reality show version of Fame" at the School for Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati, Ohio, which he attended in his youth.

Tony DiSanto, of MTV, tells the Hollywood Reporter the show will be similar to reality series Laguna Beach.

Is Jessica Simpson trying to win back her ex husband Nick Lachey? A report from OK! Magazine claims that the buxom blonde still has her ex on speed dial. In his first-ever sit-down interview with girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo in OK's July 16 issue, Nick revealed that he is no longer in contact with Jessica and he believed that was best for both of them.

"It's good to move on," he told OK. "I think I've done that." But Jessica? Not so much. A well-placed source close to the Dukes of Hazzard star tells OK, "She's been calling Nick all the time – at one point he had to change his telephone number. She now can't contact him even if she wants to."

And that is exactly what she wants, especially after seeing the Nick and Vanessa hot tub photos that recently showed up on the Internet. But winning back the man she once called her "best friend" isn't going to be easy and is more complicated now that Nick has fallen in love with former MTV host Vanessa, 26.

Still, Jessica seems determined to try. A friend of Jess tells OK, "She wants to be the girl that Nick fell in love with again." Indeed, Jessica's body is back to the same size it was when she fell in love with the singer, and her hair has returned to the golden-blonde shade she sported when they were together.

Now, a source close to the Texas native tells OK that Jessica is trying to find just the perfect opportunity to bump into her ex-husband in Los Angeles. But stealing his heart back could prove difficult. As Nick told OK, "What Vanessa and I have is real. It's ours. Nobody can touch that." Including his ex-wife.

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo are planning to marry in April.

The former 'The Newlyweds' star - who divorced Jessica Simpson last year - has proposed to the MTV presenter and she is telling friends to keep April free. A source told the National Enquirer magazine: "They're moving forward with plans for an April wedding. Since they both love Baja in Mexico it will probably happen south of the border, where they first fell in love. "When he married Jessica, Nick had a big splashy Texas wedding with all the trimmings.

"It kicked off their highly rated MTV reality series 'Newlyweds' and began their life in a fishbowl. This time he wants something a lot simpler, so they decided on a low-key affair."

Nick, 33, announced his split from Jessica in late 2005 and began dating 26-year-old Vanessa last summer.

The source added: "Nick's known for a long time that Vanessa is the one. At first she held out. But in time she began to realise Nick was the key to her happiness and couldn't imagine like without him.

"Vanessa feel's she's got Nick just where she wants him. Jessica is finally out of the picture for good. And now the two of them are ready to begin making a new life together."

Nick Lachey On Divorce

Nick Lachey has given advice about how to conduct yourself if getting a divorce.

The 33-year-old spoke out at Cosmopolitan's award bash, where he received the Fun, Fearless Male Of The Year Award.

Lachey explained: "You have to always have a good perspective and a good attitude and always take the high road. You never want to look back and regret the way you acted.

He also told People magazine: "Certainly I had some tough times in the past year. Hopefully I tried always to take the high road and make the most of the situation."

Nick Lachey Is Not Ready To Wed

The singer - whose divorce from Jessica Simpson was finalised last year - has slammed rumours he is planning to propose to MTV presenter Vanessa.

Nick told Access Hollywood: "The four-letter word that starts with an 'r' - we are not dealing with that one yet." It was reported in December that Nick had phoned his ex-wife and told her he was marrying again.

The 33-year-old was said to have spent 40 minutes explaining his intentions to Jessica, who reportedly struggled to contain her emotions.

However, it now seems Nick and Vanessa - who were reported to be desperate to marry before the end of 2007 - have no plans to take the next big step in their relationship and are content to carry on as they are.

Nick said: "We are very happy. I have no complaints. We are not dealing with marriage yet." Since Nick and Jessica split, the 'Dukes of Hazzard' actress has been linked to singer John Mayer - and although they were seen together in New York over Christmas, Jessica continues to insist she is single.
